OK, here’s a strange one for you:
“Evening George, Had a vivid dream/vision this morning. Large black letters appeared on a white background, “USS Kuantimiatsu.” Then a voice that said, “Remember this.” That was it. Very odd name for a US Navy ship, very Japanese. A quick search of google yielded nothing of interest so I went to the Navy site you periodically mention. There among the ships deployed was the amphibious assault ship, “USS Iwo Jima (LDH 7) – 5th Fleet.” Was the name I saw an oblique reference to the USS Iwo Jima? I haven’t a clue. This is the first time I can remember where I saw such clear words in a dream and they came with the instruction to remember. Very odd.”
I’d guess more like one of the Japanese ships which is facing off with China over contentious real estate in the Pacific…but who knows?
Next case?
“Hi George, Just thought I would add my experience to the wujo. I get them all the time. Anyway, Up here in the northwest they have implemented atv rider training for everyone under 16. This means you take an online test, then once you pass that test you then schedule a date for a hands on class, then and only then can you ride up in state forests. The local training site needed a copy of the online certificate and a couple of other docs, which I dutifully printed out for my seven year old son, and placed in an envelope on my desk. Well I left said desk for a few minutes to deal with an electrical problem outside, and when I came back, it was gone! I spent most of the day looking for it in all the usual places, to the point that I went back online(at said same desk) reprinted all the documents, and this time took them down to my Jeep to place in the glove box for safe keeping. Well I came back to my desk and there it was sitting EXACTLY where I left it. A 9 x 12 envelope you just don’t miss!!! Don’t know why my reprinting of the documents caused it to re appear but it did. ”
Hold on a minute, Bucko! What was the “electrical problem” you had to attend to which happened about the same time? Could it be related somehow? Hmmm…
Reader’s Writes
T’other day a reader proposed simply not re-electing anyone to office who has had a chance to change things for the better and failed. Other readers have a more “French” solution:
“The fellow who wrote you complaining about the banksters cheating, lying, stealing and then paying fines to government. And then complaining about government and suggesting don’t re-elect them is out to lunch. The only workable solution and the solution that WILL work is to employ the solution used by the French some time back. It is way overdue. ”
Trouble with mob violence is that is won’t happen now. The reason being about half the population is on some kind of government assistance and who wants to kill the goose laying golden eggs?

Another reader has a different tack: Boycott banks. suggests this reader in an email to Clif and me:
“I have an event I am trying to organize. It is simple, it costs nothing and can be done individually in any manner one would choose. From August 6th thru August 8th we buy nothing, no gas, no food, or anything else. We withdraw all or most of our money from the banks. I realize that the withdrawal of money could be problematic so it doesn’t have to be done if one chooses not to. Pragmatism is the rule. If someone needs something then obviously they should buy it. This is meant to be simple and direct.
You might ask what will it accomplish, the answer is it would demonstrate our power. Philosophically we are, as individuals, very powerful. We have been convinced we are not and nothing could be further from the truth. Collectively we are stronger than any weapon you can name. It is non violent, and easy to accomplish one human being at a time. When I say organize I mean just getting this out there so people can choose to participate or not. The only qualifier is the date, it has to be done collectively in one time frame by all I am hoping that you will agree with me.
You have more mojo than I and the wherewithal that I don’t have. If this can be pulled off, and I think it can, then we can beat the lobbyists et al at there own game and start taking our country back from the brink of insanity it teeters on at present. In the personal I am nobody special but I am tired of watching and reading of the daily horrors our government seems steeped in. I don’t need to make a list of them, I am sure you are way ahead of me. Whether you choose to participate or not I will continue trying to make it happen. I am just taking a shot I have nothing to lose by trying. I named it Abstain, short and to the point. I hope to hear back whether yes or no. ”
Problem with boycotts is that in this case, the people who have been most seriously wronged are already broke and beholden and they won’t have two dimes to rub together – so it won’t show much to the PTB.
Write when you break even…

A Check on Our Trading System
This morning we’ll focus on how that trading system I developed a while back performed this week, which as it turns out was surprisingly well in one of the most difficult markets imaginable. But before we lay out the details, let’s start with a smattering of data points, realizing that there are many “balls in the air” this weekend, starting with what will happen next week in the EU mess…
