Special Reader Note

No UrbanSurvival Report Friday

Back on our regular schedule on Monday AM

Apologies and all but there’s no report this morning.  Not that we wouldn’t just love to be here telling you “what up” but we are in the hills north of Phoenix and we are hitting a narrow weather window which requires a no-excuses takeoff at 6:15 AM out of the PHX area.

Reason for this is a little bugger previously explained to Peoplenomics readers called Density Altitude.

Our 46-year old crate doesn’t fly worth a tinker’s damn when it’s over 90F.  We have done everything possible to reduce weight, but there is a fuel stop later today which will be done at 4,300 feet enroute to Odessa, TX where we have promised to have beers with a couple of nice readers who were kind enough to invite us.  (We’ll buy…which probably will shock them, lol).

Tomorrow morning, Peoplenomics.com (subscription info) will roll at its regular time and will feature the report Gaye (BackDoorSurvival) and I have been working on RE: FEMA and what’s going on there….many questions around the net of late…

Sorry to spring this on you, but that’s the way we roll:  Flying an airplane, even an old, cheap, slow one is a not like writing a column.  Writing can be done with hangovers, zero sleep, and so forth.  Reason?  Second chances all over the place…delete key and backspace.

Not like that on short final at 4300 feet on a 90 degree day with a stiff cross wind in an old beater of a plane…so this is going to be interesting, fo sho.  Calculations all pencil out, but trust me when I tell you, this is not something I will short myself sleep before doing.

So back Monday and see you then…have a great weekend…

George & Elaine nearing the end of the road trip.
