In case you haven’t heard yet, or figured it our from all the references so far thsi morning, the long awaited web bot run which looks at our questionable future as a species, has been release by Clif at the www.halfpasthuman.com site. Runs almost 60 pages and – as usual – not the kind of thing to be reading to the kids as a bedtime story. Unless your kid happens to be named Maxx and is a bit ‘touched’ if you follow.
I’ve been cogitating the data for a while and will have an update on my personal expectations for next year on Peoplenomics for subscribers on Wednesday. And yes, it’s a synthesis of some RV’ing, a few dreams from the National Dream Center site, expectations of Patrick Geryl and where economics points us.
As such, its purpose is to be actionable, not just scare the willies out of you.

A few emails have come in like this one:
“As per the subject line I am unable to access HPH’s current landing page at work. My mobile phone shows the page with the latest shape report link etc. I have tried three different browsers and they all show last week’s cached page for Friday (or whenever the last update was made). History has been cleared etc etc.”
So here’s the thing: The HPH site is there, but as you know, there are an increasing number of companies that operate electronic goon-squads which is a form of mind control used by employers to keep employees from reading sites that might actually get them to thinking and questioning the work/treadmill/work for the man lifestyle. So they block sites. That’s why the mobile gets there and the work computer won’t.
If you bring up “mind control via internet censorshup vis security” sites at a staff meeting and you get fired for daring to speak the truth, don’t blame us. We’ll disavow any knowledge.
Book Sales and Addenda
A couple of developments on my book “Broken Web: The Coming Collapse of the Internet” (see previous story for an example of how it’s already breaking):
The book is now available for Nook devices thanks to Barnes and Noble carrying it.
Still waiting for someone to post a review at Amazon.
And…what’s this? Here’s a TED Talk by Andrew McAfee wondering “Are Droids are taking out jobs?” which is a keen central theme of my book….job destruction kills the economy. But if you’re skeptical, just hang in a few more years.
In addition to the Droids, there were ATM’s before that, and now more stores are eliminating checkout workers opting for self-check and RFID’s, and there will be another round of job-source bye-bye’s when the metal printer prices come down and we can axe human-operated CNC machines. There go machinists wholesale.
I wonder how many other past civilizations went down this way? Humans worked themselves into obsolescence…
Exopolitics Department
have you been wondering why the US and Russia have been pouring so much money into the Lake Vostok area of the Antarctive trying to get something before the ice sheets collape? Well, try on the just-posted YouTube vid “Third Reich – Operation UFO (Nazai base in Antarctica) Computer Documentary” justy posted this weekend.
In Russian but with English subtitles so you can follow the drift of it…
Future Travels
Just got word this morning that the National Society of Newspaper Columnists convention has been moved from St. Petersburg, FL (May of next year) to Hartford, CT in late Junem 2013.
Depending on water levels, this means we will finally get to spend some time with Howard Hill, maybe take up an Artful trader on an old dusty invite to hit the Friends of Fermentation after-market-hours meet-up and maybe get some snaps of me by the bull on Wall St. “Which one is most full of bull?” would be the caption.
Since summers are hotter’n hell in East Texas, I’m hoping my consulting client in Minnesota will be doing well enough to justify us coming up that way for a week or six.
Though it seems like a dandy plan, stuff of dreams, it all depends on how much water inundates the coasts next year…details of which are in Clif’s report. Back to a sailboat-on-trailer plan for a big winter project… I wonder if there’s a launching ramp near Colorado Springs?
Prepping Notes
Have you looked through the collection of free downloads of medical books at www.herperian.org? Fine stuff here.
Now, if someone would just come up with a solar charger for the Kindles and Droids so you didn’t need a mile-long strike of devices to charge them up.
One way to do it now is
Solar panel into
Charge controller into
Battery into
Inverter into
Kindle or Droid charger.
The alternative seems to use a small portable unit like the PowerFilm USB+AA Solar Charger ($73, Amazon). I can see something like this a Droid or Kindle and maybe a shortwave radio…so you can find out all the bad news in After World…but hey! Don’t let my occasional references like that bum you out…there’s still plenty of prep time…
Until there isn’t.
Write when you break even…

My Unconventional Investment Plans – Part 2
In our last investing adventure we dug down into some of the longwave/macroecon subject matter, but I try to remind myself that education is no good if it doesn’t put food on the table or pay the rent. So this morning we will talk about laddering out of bonds and into stocks when the bottom gets here, but if there’s more significant downside, why laddering into bonds even at what seems like a late date might still make sense. Depending on how the market decline over the next few weeks – and into elections? – goes. First, though, we need another cuppa brew and a waller (a Texification of wallow) in the headlines before we get on to the serious business of fading the dealer.

Safer Computing: Getting Your Cookies Off
It has been a while since I roared the praises of the Maxa Cookie Manager which you can download and install for a free test drive by clicking here.
To upgrade from the demo to full working is still less than $30 (During their Spring Sale) and one heck of a bargain at that, if I do say so.
